HIPAA standard is a framework that includes a series of regulations designed for use in all related to medical digital data.

The main purpose: to monitor the use of patients’ personal information by such and other organizations and to prevent a situation where there will be a leak of medical information to unauthorized persons and to the patient’s medical information, which stored in the organization database.

Actually, it goes beyond keeping patient health information confidential. 
Every medical office, clinic and hospital have to encrypt and secured safely every piece of communication.
